Job Summary

We are currently seeking a federal Government Relations Advisor to join our Government Relations and Regulatory team. The Government Relations Advisor will work with our firm’s Government Relations team to provide Washington State government relations and regulatory services to clients across various sectors. The position is based in our Seattle office.

 

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and managing client government relations initiatives
  • Drafting memorandum, policy briefs, letters, talking points, and other materials for clients.
  • Communicating, coordinating, and attending meetings with members of the Washington State Legislature as well as other political events.
  • Assuming other legislative functions in support of clients.
  • Working with our firm’s government relations team on multi-state and federal advocacy initiatives.  

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in State government, Tribal government, campaign or political fields, or other related fields.
  • Strong understanding of the political and legislative process.
  • Excellent verbal communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

 

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Native American, Agriculture and/or fish and wildlife policy.  
  • Tax Policy: In-depth understanding of state budget and tax policy, implementation, and analysis.
  • Energy Sector: Expertise in policy, legislative drafting, and regulation on energy issues. 
  • Washington State Grants: Proficiency in drafting, reviewing, managing, implementing, applying for and/or selecting state grants, funding and/or cooperative agreements.
